Vernon Erb, the founder of The Erb Group of Companies, embarked on an entrepreneurial journey in June 1959 with the purchase of his first truck. Despite the initial challenges, Vernon’s unwavering determination, combined with the invaluable support and contributions of his life and business partner, Viola Erb, set the foundation for what is now known as The Erb Group of Companies — a legacy built on hard work and perseverance.

1963

The Start Of The Refrigerated Fleet

Vernon Erb purchased an egg trucking business and began transporting eggs to Toronto food companies, such as Loblaws and Dominion.

1973

EXPANSION OF THE TERMINAL NETWORK

The Erb Group opened its first terminal in New Hamburg and expanded to other cities, including Toronto and Thunder Bay. The rest of their strategically placed terminal network followed quickly.

1980

CREATION OF THE ERB INTERNATIONAL DIVISION

Erb acquired a limited PCV license to haul meats into the US, leading to the development of the Erb International division.

1985

Expanding Across the Border

In 1985, The Erb Group took a bold step forward by opening a U.S. terminal in Elverson, PA, offering regional truckload services to the Atlantic Region of the United States. Despite operating on a smaller scale, the terminal’s fleet of experienced drivers complemented the highly successful Erb International division.

1997

LAUNCH OF ERB EXPEDITE

Erb Expedite was founded to provide last-minute expedited solutions and dedicated services to small-businesses and other highly regulated industries.

2005

HACCP CERTIFICATION

The Erb Group achieved HACCP Certification, confirming its best practices in food safety and quality assurance.

2011

APPOINTMENT OF CEO & MODERNIZATION

Wendell Erb was appointed CEO and guided The Erb Group in developing modern best practices and becoming a full one-stop solution for refrigerated logistics.

2022

EXPANSION OF CROSS-DOCKING OPERATIONS

The Erb Group added a cross-docking operations to a new facility in the GTA, increasing its capabilities and efficiencies.
