HOME AWAY FROM HOME

A home is a place where we feel the utmost comfort, a place of rest and a place to feel safe. Home is somewhere that we can personalize our surroundings to make them comfortable. An organized, nicely put together atmosphere can have a significant impact on your mood. For many of our drivers the cabs of their truck becomes a home away from home.

Here are a few tips to bring the comfort of home to your cab:

Your Pillow – Who doesn’t love the perfect pillow? It’s just the right firmness and allows for a better night’s sleep after a long day on the road. Depending on your sleeping style there’s a perfectly engineered pillow just for you! You can also invest in some high thread count sheets or blankets to upgrade your sleeping area instead of a sleeping bag. Make your bunk the perfect place to lay down for a rest.

Bins for Organization: To stay organized and remove some clutter, get some bins for better storage so you always know where items are in your cab. Make sure all your safety equipment is in one place if there is ever an accident or emergency, including extra batteries, reflective gear and a basic first aid kit. Don’t forget to make sure your bins are properly secured and to have fun with the colours and patterns you pick. Really make this space your own!

Curtains – Curtains can help black out the light for a better night’s sleep and make the cab feel homier. You can get matching seat covers or truck mats to enhance your décor.

Pictures of Loved Ones – Although technology has advanced over the years and connections from home can be instant, a printed picture of your loved ones can be a comfort when you can’t connect online.

Art from the Kids – Those fridge-worthy pieces of art can hang proudly in your cab! They can add colour to the walls and always remind you that you are someone’s hero.

Cleaning Supplies – Having some basic cleaning supplies in your cab can improve your space and your mood while on the road. A small 12V vacuum can come in handy with messes and tracked-in debris. Make sure you have some cloths to wipe up spills and dust. Also, don’t forget your sanitizing spray!

Entertainment – Trucking can include a lot of downtime. Invest in a TV so you can expand your electronic options. You can watch a movie or watch your favourite sports team and make it easier to be away for long stretches. Bring a book for short breaks and make the trip more enjoyable. You can also bring exercise equipment to keep you moving if it is part of your routine.

We hope these tips will help you customize your cab and allow you to bring your own personal style and comforts into your home away from home!
