Elle est n\u00e9e et a grandi dans cette ville. Une nuit, lors d\u2019une livraison, elle est devenue une h\u00e9ro\u00efne m\u00eame si tout se passait <em>mal<\/em> pour elle. Selon elle, c\u2019\u00e9tait une \u00ab intervention divine \u00bb qui a interrompu son horaire et qui l\u2019a amen\u00e9e \u00e0 une sc\u00e8ne o\u00f9 elle a pu sauver la vie de quelqu\u2019un.<\/p>\n<p>En d\u00e9cembre dernier, un jour froid et enneig\u00e9 dans le nord de l\u2019Ontario, cette camionneuse du Groupe Erb se pr\u00e9parait pour une livraison, mais elle constatait, \u00ab retard apr\u00e8s retard \u00bb, que cette livraison allait prendre plus de temps que pr\u00e9vu. Premi\u00e8rement, elle a subi un retard dans la cour. Ensuite, sa carte pour le carburant ne fonctionnait pas correctement. Et enfin, elle a d\u00fb attendre une heure avant de pouvoir prendre sa douche au Flying J.<a href=\"https:\/\/erbgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Dawna-Jacobsen-1-768x1024-1-jpeg.webp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3076 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/erbgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Dawna-Jacobsen-1-768x1024-1-jpeg.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"224\" height=\"298\" srcset=\"https:\/\/erbgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Dawna-Jacobsen-1-768x1024-1-jpeg.webp 768w, https:\/\/erbgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Dawna-Jacobsen-1-768x1024-1-225x300.webp 225w, https:\/\/erbgroup.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Dawna-Jacobsen-1-768x1024-1-9x12.webp 9w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 224px) 100vw, 224px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Quand elle quittait Kapuskasing, en Ontario, sur l\u2019autoroute 11, il faisait d\u00e9j\u00e0 nuit. Ensuite, cette camionneuse de Winnipeg a vu ce qu\u2019elle croyait \u00eatre une grande bo\u00eete sur la route qui glissait vers elle. \u00c0 l\u2019approche de cet objet, elle a constat\u00e9 que c\u2019\u00e9tait en fait une motoneige sur laquelle il n\u2019y avait personne. Instinctivement, elle a d\u00e9plac\u00e9 son camion de mani\u00e8re \u00e0 \u00e9viter de heurter la motoneige puis elle s\u2019est arr\u00eat\u00e9e. Elle a d\u00fb supposer qu\u2019il y ait une victime quelque part, raison pour laquelle elle a bloqu\u00e9 la route avec son camion pour emp\u00eacher que d\u2019autres v\u00e9hicules passent.<\/p>\n<p>Quand elle est descendue de son camion, elle a remarqu\u00e9 \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de l\u2019autoroute un gar\u00e7on gravement bless\u00e9. Ensuite, elle a saut\u00e9 dans son camion pour appeler le 911. Entre-temps, deux hommes se sont arr\u00eat\u00e9s pour porter secours au gar\u00e7on. Dawna communiquait des informations primordiales aux deux hommes et au r\u00e9partiteur avant l\u2019arriv\u00e9e de deux ambulanciers.<\/p>\n<p>Il s\u2019av\u00e8re que la motoneige du gar\u00e7on a \u00e9t\u00e9 frapp\u00e9e par une voiture quand il tentait de traverser l\u2019autoroute dans le noir. Le gar\u00e7on a sans aucun doute surv\u00e9cu gr\u00e2ce aux actions de Dawna et \u00e0 celles des deux hommes.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab J\u2019\u00e9tais horrifi\u00e9e quand j\u2019ai vu ce pauvre gar\u00e7on. Je ne voulais ni le regarder ni y penser. Mais, je savais que quelqu\u2019un devait l\u2019aider le plus t\u00f4t possible, c\u2019est tout ce qui comptait \u00bb, raconte-t-elle. \u00ab \u00c0 vrai dire, ce jour-l\u00e0, tout est arriv\u00e9 pour une raison. Je crois que c\u2019\u00e9tait quelque chose comme une intervention divine. Ce n\u2019\u00e9tait pas la chance, mais plut\u00f4t la gr\u00e2ce de Dieu. C\u2019\u00e9tait Sa merci, Son amour, Sa protection. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>En reconnaissance de ses actions h\u00e9ro\u00efques, hier soir, elle a re\u00e7u le prix Bridgestone-OTA Truck Hero Award lors du congr\u00e8s annuel de l\u2019OTA, \u00e0 Toronto.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab Les actions de Dawna sont un reflet des valeurs, de l\u2019int\u00e9grit\u00e9 et des aspects que nous recherchons chez nos chauffeurs \u00bb, a dit le pr\u00e9sident et chef de la direction du Groupe Erb, Wendell Erb. \u00ab Chez Erb, nous sommes fiers d\u2019elle et des actions. Elle a vite compris la situation puis elle s\u2019est assur\u00e9e qu\u2019elle ne d\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e8re pas. Elle a cherch\u00e9 de l\u2019aide sans tarder, ce qui a permis de sauver la vie du gar\u00e7on. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab Je suis certain que Dawna ne se consid\u00e8re pas comme une h\u00e9ro\u00efne. Elle se dit qu\u2019elle faisait tout simplement son travail. Quant \u00e0 moi, je dirais qu\u2019elle est sans aucun doute une h\u00e9ro\u00efne et qu\u2019elle m\u00e9rite cent fois ce prix. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p>Avant de devenir camionneuse, Dawna aidait ses fr\u00e8res et s\u0153urs en prenant soin de ses neveux et ni\u00e8ces et elle travaillait avec des enfants autochtones marginalis\u00e9s. Selon elle, la gentillesse et l\u2019altruisme sont des valeurs importantes pour elle, \u00e0 la maison et au travail. \u00ab Si chacun prenait le temps de penser aux autres, cela rendrait la route plus s\u00e9curitaire \u00bb, explique-t-elle.<\/p>\n<p>\u00ab En tant que chauffeurs \u2013 professionnels ou non \u2013 nous devons nous rendre compte de l\u2019importance de chaque vie.
