As a transportation company with over 1,500 trucks and drivers, having a truck repair shop is fundamental. Erb\u2019s repair shops are equipped with innovative technology, strong equipment, and most importantly, a great team. This week we interviewed three of Erb\u2019s shop supervisors in the Baden Shop, and found some common themes throughout these conversations!<\/p>\n
Our shops can assist anywhere from 3 to 20 trucks per day, which isn\u2019t always an easy task. Our mechanics are equipped to assist with repairs, safety issues, and more. All of our interviewed supervisors explained that to work in the shops (tractor, trailer and reefer), you need an open mind and a willingness to learn. As we all know, technology changes and upgrades at an immeasurable pace, and that applies to the trucking industry as well! Just when our mechanics think they know everything there is to know, the technology changes and they\u2019re back to the drawing board. The shop is like an airport; it never stops moving! Our mechanics get variety in their day-to-day activities, and it always keeps them on their toes.<\/p>\n
Our shop supervisors also explained that they prioritize, and appreciate, our ever persisting positive work environment. Many of our shop supervisors and mechanics have been with us for more than a decade, and explained that our positive workplace environment is a major contributor to their long tenure with us. Erb\u2019s commitment to maintaining a positive workplace environment has been demonstrated time and time again!<\/p>\n
Four years ago, Erb made the decision to create a new repair shop at our terminal in Baden, ON. As Erb was quickly expanding, it was becoming more and more difficult to have all of our mechanics in one tight space in New Hamburg. Each mechanic we spoke to explained that the creation of the new shop was exactly what they needed, and they were thrilled with the expansion. Erb is dedicated to providing our employees with the tools and space they need to do their jobs effectively and efficiently, which is exactly what we did!<\/p>\n
