Today is <\/span>Giving Tuesday<\/span><\/i>! It is a global day of giving that encourages people to support and give back to organizations that are meaningful to them. As the holiday season approaches, we are reminded about what we must be grateful for. <\/span>Giving Tuesday<\/span><\/i> always takes place after Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The day celebrates giving back and unites charities, companies, and individuals through social media to rally for their favourite causes. <\/span>\u201cWe have two days that are good for the economy. Now we have a day that is good for the community too.\u201d<\/span><\/i>
\n<\/span>
\n<\/span>T<\/span>his <\/span>Giving Tuesday<\/span><\/i> some local charitable organizations have teamed up with companies who are matching all donations for the day! The Food Bank is a charitable organization we hold dear to our hearts here at Erb; the Waterloo Region Food Bank will have their donations matched by Yardistry. Although things are different this year, we are happy that during these uncertain times we can still help our local communities. Normally this time of year, Erb Transport teams up with the local food bank to deliver much needed Christmas food hampers to those in the community. The hampers usually include a variety of food items and a turkey, however with physical distancing restrictions in place and a potential impending lockdowns, packing hampers this year would be a logistical challenge. Instead, the popular hamper program will offer a turkey and a gift card so families can go to the store and choose what they would like to have for dinner. Erb is happy to still be involved and donate our climate-controlled trailers to keep the turkeys at the perfect temperature for pickup and delivery days.<\/span><\/p>\n

While many of us are making holiday gift lists and deciding what to have for dinner, others might be worried that Santa will not be able to make an appearance this year. Remember what you have to be grateful for and give back. <\/span>Gratitude is the quality of being thankful and the willingness to show and return kindness. <\/span><\/i>This will be a holiday season like no other. If you can, reach a little deeper and show kindness to others in your community — we are all in this together.<\/span><\/p>\n
