ERB TRANSPORT’S PARTNERSHIP WITH THE COMMUNITY PLAYERS

At Erb Transport, one of our key values has always been to serve the community and share our good fortune with those around us. Therefore, we have partnered with many local community leaders; one of which is The Community Players (TCP) of New Hamburg.

About The Community Players

Founded in 1984, TCP is a non-profit community theatre that operates in Wilmot Township. Over the course of more than thirty years, TCP has established itself as a crucial part of the community’s identity; it is the biggest contributor to performing arts in town. In the year 2000, the company started performing in the old New Hamburg arena, making itself known for innovation and uniqueness. TCP’s success comes from the spectacular musicals and shows that they put on, as well as their ability to engage volunteers and staff.  However, as a non-profit organization, TCP faces a number of challenges, including storing and transporting set equipment as well as mobilizing volunteers. Recognizing this obstacle, Erb Transport stepped in and became a partner of TCP.

Erb Transport’s partnership

Over 20 years, Erb Transported has supported TCP through sponsorships and donations of old trailers and reefer trucks. We have dedicated these trucks to assist the theatre group with their transportation needs; our volunteer drivers would bring the trailers to the venue. Aside from TCP, we also support other community groups with our equipment when possible. “One of the biggest challenges of being a non-profit is organizing the volunteers,” says Aaron Fewkes, President of The Community Players. “Working with Erb makes it easier. Even though we are not a paying customer, they treat us like we are. They are always willing to offer help, always on time and they always make things happen.”

How The Community Players give back

The Community Players put up plays twice a year: once in the spring and now a fall drama as well. As a group that enriches the community’s culture while providing entertainment and education, TCP also gives back by funding local organizations and projects. They work hand-in-hand with the township of New Hamburg to revitalize the New Hamburg arena. In addition, they also support local youths by offering an annual scholarship to a Waterloo-Oxford D.S.S student who wishes to pursue a post-secondary education in the arts. “For the last four years, I have had the pleasure of volunteering with TCP of New Hamburg,” says Mary Jane Keeble, EDI Specialist at Erb Transport. “Erb Transport has been a long-time supporter of TCP. They have graciously donated two trailers which are used for storing supplies both during and between shows. It feels good to know that the company I work for is proud of and supports its community theatre.”   It is our pleasure to be a part of such a wonderful and nurturing community. Like TCP, many local organizations are working tirelessly to make our region a better place, and Erb Transport is always proud to be a part of it.
